I love the IFA!

Yesterday we moved all of the logs Peter and Zach split for us and built a "wall." At least that is what Zach calls it.

During previous yard work days Zach and Liz have gotten pretty good splinters in their hands, and I have been on the hunt for good kid work gloves. Obviously I have been looking in all of the wrong stores, because yesterday we visited our local IFA. They have a fabulous selection of gloves. There were at least five different pairs of leather kid gloves! I was so excited, no more splinters here we come! The greatest part was that they were less than $5.00 a piece. I'm in love!

Happy Mommy Day!

So what did you do to celibate Mommy Day?...... Ok, if you missed this one, don't forget next time. :-) Em and I had such a wonderful weekend in the Sun, and after we heard that today would be the only warm day all week, we had to do something. Em really wanted to attack the house, without the children, so I enacted "Mommy Day." I take a day of vacation, kidnap the children and disappear, while Mom gets to do whatever she wants. It's actually been pretty nice, it gives Em the chance to get a lot of things done that she wants, and I get a chance to hang out with the kids all day.

The best part is Mommy Day will happen three times a year, so be sure to catch the next two before the year is over!! :-)

What a Weekend!

It has been a fantastic weekend. Not only was the weather wonderful for once on a weekend, but we made it outside to enjoy it!

First, we took our front yard head on. We filled the trailer full of weeds and tree branches.

That evening Em's family came over and watched our little ones so we could go on a date. It was wonderful! We went to La Jolla Groves to eat. We were going to go to the mall and play chess, but while deciding where to eat this place came up, and I'm all for doing anything that might have ties to Southern California. Overall, it wasn't Southern California, but we had the lemon cake desert, and it was really fun to eat. Em and I shared one, we recommend this desert.

The next day, after pulling weeds all the day previously, I ran the Rex-Lee 5k run. Not the best race I've done, but I was in the top 15% overall.

Then, Zach was so pumped about racing that we let him go run his little heart out. That boy loves to run.

Last, but not least, I found a great way to make OSHA nervous. While Rototilling the front yard, my arms and hands were giving out on me. I couldn't hold the tiller any longer. Then I came up with this great idea! "Why don't I tie myself to the tiller, and pull it with my legs??" Thats what horses do right.... :-)

If it didn't work so well, I would have stopped, but I was able to till about triple the area in the same time. It works great!! I'd sell it, but I think some people might have some safety concerns.... :-)
