So I'm not a fan of posting w/out pictures, but I don't have any at the moment, and it's too cold to go out and take some for what I'm going to talk about. So keep reading, it will be worth it.
First, I woke up today and finished a project that has been nagging me for over 6 months. (Ok, it's not finished, but it's functional) We officially have a bathroom of our own! As many of you know, the grout in our master bathroom tub/shower was not finished by the previous owners. While finishing it I learned some very important things about doing tile work.
1. Don't let grout dry where you don't want it! I had to chisel a whole bunch of grout out of our shower, as the grout job appears to have been abandoned before it was cleaned up.
2. Check the date on the caulk you use. There was some very nice looking bathroom/kitchen caulk left with the house. I used it to seal the remaining portions of the tub, however after 48 hours, it was still wet. (It said on the bottle it would take 24 hours to fully cure.) Looking into it further, I noticed that the bottle had an expiration date of over a year ago. It's not very much fun scraping out caulking, just to put new caulking in. :-)
And finally this morning, I shaved down the door just enough so it could close properly. And with that, we officially have a bathroom to ourselves!
Second, Em has been wanting a couch for our bedroom. We found one, and as we went to get it, we noticed a knocking sound coming from our car. It sounds like the front differential is having issues. So here we are, going out to buy a couch we don't need, and it looks like our car is going to need some repairs. Good thing Em is funding the couch with her own money.
Third, we have a delightful time getting the trailer out of our snow covered back yard. We needed it to go pick up the couch. We almost didn't make it, but as we we're pealing out in 4 wheel drive, with a 20 foot trailer attached behind us, the kids in the back were praying that we wouldn't get stuck. Their prayers worked. :-)
Fourth, As we came home with the couch, we noticed that our mailbox was laying on the ground. Apparently it was involved in a hit and run while we were gone! Now if you know what our mailbox looks like, it's not just a little metal box on a stick. It was made from 12x12" rail road ties! Someone snapped it and knocked the whole thing over. Lame!
All in all, it's been a great day. Get done with one thing, and incur a few more to take its place. No I'm not complaining, life could be a lot worse, and honestly things are going pretty well. Just wanted to share what a fun filled day it has been.
